چکیده

This paper presents an efficient approach for exciting a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) in the terahertz frequencies by means of a graphene plasmonic dipole. Design and analysis are performed in two steps. First, the propagation properties of hybrid plasmonic onedimensional and two-dimensional structures are obtained by using transfer matrix theory and the finite-element method. The coupling amount between the plasmonic graphene mode and the dielectric wave mode is explored based on different parameters. These results, together with DRA and plasmonic antenna theory, are then used to design a DRA antenna that supports the TEy112 mode at 2.4 THz and achieves a gain (IEEE) of up to 7 dBi and a radiation efficiency of up 70%. This gain is 6.5 dB higher than that of the graphene dipole alone and achieved with a moderate area overhead, demonstrating the value of the proposed structure.

Graphene geometric diodes for terahertz rectennas

We demonstrate a new thin-film graphene diode called a geometric diode that relies on geometric asymmetry to provide rectification at 28 THz. The geometric diode is coupled to an optical antenna to form a rectenna that rectifies incoming radiation. This is the first reported graphene-based antenna-coupled diode working at 28 THz, and potentially at optical frequencies. The planar structure of t...

Dual-band, Dynamically Tunable Plasmonic Metamaterial Absorbers Based on Graphene for Terahertz Frequencies

In this paper, a compact plasmonic metamaterial absorber for terahertz frequencies is proposed and simulated. The absorber is based on metamaterial graphene structures, and benefits from dynamically controllable properties of graphene. Through patterning graphene layers, plasmonic resonances are tailored to provide a dual band as well as an improved bandwidth absorption. Unit cell of the design...

Novel Element For Bnadwidth Improvement Of The Reflectarray Antenna

In this paper novel reflectarray antenna elements are proposed using aperture-coupled dielectric resonator antenna structures. Using these new structures, wide phase range and wide frequency bandwidth (up to 28.5%) with parallel and linear phase curves are obtained. In each case, an array consisting of 289 elements was simulated using the finite integration technique (FIT). The arrays exhibit 3...

Corrigendum: Excitation of dark multipolar plasmonic resonances at terahertz frequencies

We experimentally observe the excitation of dark multipolar spoof localized surface plasmon resonances in a hybrid structure consisting of a corrugated metallic disk coupled with a C-shaped dipole resonator. The uncoupled corrugated metallic disk only supports a dipolar resonance in the transmission spectrum due to perfect symmetry of the structure. However, the dark multipolar spoof localized ...

Study of hybrid and pure plasmonic terahertz antennas based on graphene guided-wave structures

Graphene is a unique material for the implementation of terahertz antennas due to extraordinary properties of the resulting devices, such as tunability and compactness. Existing graphene antennas are based on pure plasmonic structures, which are compact but show moderate to high losses. To achieve higher efficiency with low cost, one can apply the theory behind dielectric resonator antennas wid...
